My passion for Pinot Noir

I discovered my love of Pinot Noir while working for a Norwegian wine merchant. I decided to move to Burgundy, home to the very best Pinot Noir, to learn more about its vinification. I trained and worked with leading producers of Pinot Noir. Later I moved to Germany, and in the late 1990s I was instrumental in developing Pinot Noir in the Ahr Valley. My client base subsequently broadened to other regions of Germany and abroad.

Pinot Noir is considered to be a difficult grape. Site conditions must be ideal, the work in the vineyard must be rigorous, and in the cellar vinification must be gentle and carefully attuned to the product definition. But the hard work pays off. Pinot Noir rewards us with the very finest of aromas.

My consulting work aims to bring out, in unadulterated form, the aromatic typicity and unsurpassed elegance of a grape that is supported by solid tannin and fine acidity structures. My work is based on extensive knowledge of grape production, vinification and blending. Over many years I have tried out and applied different techniques and methods of élevage. Together we will identify the methods that are best suited to your requirements.
